The P3G consortium takes flight

Founded in Montréal in 2003, the Public Population Project in Genomics (P3G) is a not-for-profit international organization to promote collaboration between researchers in the field of population genomics. The consortium has already mobilized researchers from 25 different countries. The funding this organization received this spring from Genome Canada and Génome Québec will enable it to play a genuine role on the world stage, as does HUPO (Human Proteome Organisation) and other IOs of the life sciences sector also established in Montréal, such as the World Federation of Hemophilia, the International Society of Urology, the Transplantation Society, or the Réseau mère-enfant de la Francophonie (a mother-child health network for the French-speaking world).

“Montréal is already a major centre in the field of genetics and genomics, so the growth of P3G is sure to help attract high-calibre researchers and consolidate its leadership position,” assures Denis Legault, executive director of P3G.
