Canada Ranks in as 7th Most Attractive Country for Clean Tech Companies
“Canada ranks among the top 10 countries worldwide when it comes to spawning clean technology companies.
A new report by the World Wildlife Fund and the multinational research firm Cleantech Group rates 38 countries by their abilities to commercialize start-up green-tech firms. The study says that clean technology innovations will be scaling up quickly in the next 10 to 30 years. It has tried to measure where innovative companies are most likely to emerge.
According to the Globe and Mail, Canada ranks high because of an entrepreneurial culture, relatively high patent activity and existing corporate activity in the green-tech sector. Josh Laughren, WWF Canada’s director of climate and energy, points out that there are supportive provincial policies that help bolster the sector, notably Quebec’s commitment to building an electric vehicle industry.”
