In 2005, Greater Montréal received 141 venture capital loans, for a total of $444.2M. With over a quarter or the value invested in Canada, Montréal ranks first among major Canadian metropolises.

The high-tech sectors (life sciences and information and communication technologies – ICT) alone acquired over 70% of the value invested in 2005 in metro Montréal and nearly 55% of all investments.
