According to a KPMG study of 30 major cities throughout the world (cities with more than 2 million inhabitants), Montréal is still the city with the lowest business costs [1].
These cover all aspects of running a business: office space leasing, labour costs, telecommunications, etc. The KPMG study revealed that, in terms of total labour costs, Canada heads the list that includes 11 countries in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region. This same study ranks Canada first for lowest electricity costs and third for telecommunication costs. With regard to the cost of leasing office space in Montréal, it is lower than the cost in most major Canadian and American metropolitan centres [2].
