Tech Mahindra establishes Greater Montréal centre

Farnborough, England, July 15, 2014 — Tech Mahindra will establish its new Canadian aerospace headquarters in the Greater Montréal region. This was made possible in part by support from Montréal International. The multinational company, which offers innovative and customer-centric engineering and information technology services and solutions, expects more than 300 jobs will be created over the next three years, mainly in the aerospace industry.

Creation of 300 jobs

The announcement was made at the 2014 Farnborough Air Show, attended by Jacques Daoust, Québec’s Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports, Lakshmanan Chidambaram, Head – North America, at Tech Mahindra, Daniel Desnoyers, Associate Vice-President, Aerospace and Defence for Canada at Tech Mahindra, and Dominique Anglade, President and CEO of Montréal International.

“This is a major and strategically significant project for Québec’s aerospace industry,” Mr. Daoust said, “We worked closely with our prospecting partner Montréal International to bring this top-calibre aerospace engineering and information technology giant to the province. The Québec aerospace industry is well served by a highly trained workforce and a network of leading universities and research centres ready to build bridges with players all across the industry and all around the world.”

For his part, Mr. Chidambaram noted: “Tech Mahindra has been present in Montréal since 2005 and has been part of the region’s exponential growth journey since then. The Greater Montréal centre will provide design and manufacturing engineering expertise, as well as manufacturing support, to the Canadian customer base.”

He added: “We are grateful to Montréal International and other stakeholders whose dynamism and assurance has helped make the growth journey interesting. Montréal is a world aerospace hub and is experiencing continued growth with major OEMs such as Bombardier Aerospace. Tech Mahindra is excited by the opportunity to provide its expertise.”

Montréal International, with its mandate to attract foreign direct investments to the Greater Montréal area, supported and advised the company in its project to establish itself in the region.
