Montréal, May 26, 2015 – FISO Technologies Inc. (FISO), a leading developer and manufacturer of fibre optic sensors and signal conditioners, announced plans to expand its North American operations in Greater Montréal. The company will be opening a cleanroom in Saint-Lambert on the South Shore of Montréal, creating 30 jobs by the end of the year.
FISO’s decision to expand its Québec offices, the only ones in North America, is part of its global strategy. “The new cleanroom will allow us to better meet the growing demand from our international customer base and to provide a controlled environment with very stringent hygiene standards,” said Frédéric Borne, General Manager at FISO. “Considering the number of positions that need to be filled quickly, the availability of skilled workers and cutting-edge expertise in the region was a key factor in our decision to invest in Greater Montréal.”
FISO provides innovative and reliable solutions for measuring parameters such as temperature, pressure, displacement and position, strain and load as well as refractive index in harsh environments. The company develops fibre optic catheter-tip pressure sensors for intravascular and muscle compartment pressure monitoring as well as fibre optic temperature probes for monitoring patients undergoing an MRI.
Montréal International, Greater Montréal’s economic development agency, highlighted the distinct advantages of the region and supported the company every step of the way. “FISO Technologies’ expansion will further enhance Québec’s life sciences and health technologies industry. This is a unique technology that will complete Greater Montréal’s value chain and make the region more competitive in the sector,” said Ms. Dominique Anglade, President and CEO of Montréal International.
With over 600 facilities employing 45,000 people, Greater Montréal’s life sciences and health technologies cluster ranks sixth among North American cities in terms of number of jobs.
