Mobile and online game developer’s expansion continues with new projects to come
Montréal, September 10, 2015 – On the heels of the global success of its latest title, Jurassic World: The Game, Ludia today announced a new $30 million investment and the creation of 100 new positions. The investment will support the expansion of the Montréal studio and team, as Ludia begins work on four new franchises, expanding the developer’s portfolio.
The expansion of the Montréal studio, located at 410 St-Nicolas Street, will allow the 100 new hires to join the 300 employees already assigned to different projects.
“We are thrilled with today’s news as it clearly demonstrates the tremendous growth and achievements Ludia has experienced,” said Alex Thabet, President and CEO of Ludia Inc. “Such an investment in resources, infrastructure and renowned intellectual properties is a testament to the quality of Ludia’s work and the growth of the mobile and online games industry.”
These new licenses will allow Ludia, known for its online and mobile games based on franchises such as Jurassic World, Dragons: Rise of Berk and Family Feud, to take on more projects with a broader consumer appeal and reach a larger and more varied fan base in the range of casual to mid-core games.
One of its most recent successes, Jurassic World: The Game, launched on April 30th, 2015, and generated close to 25 million in gross revenue in the month following the movie release. This makes Jurassic World: The Game Ludia’s biggest launch in the studio’s history.
Available on iOS and Android devices, Jurassic World: The Game has quickly become a fan favourite, ranked #1 on Apple’s App Store in over 30 countries and one of the top 10 grossing apps in over 50 countries. Jurassic World: The Game follows the success of Ludia’s previous prehistoric game inspired by the beloved franchise, Jurassic Park Builder. Together, Ludia’s Jurassic franchise games reach over 2 million unique users daily.
