“What a great day for HEC Montréal and for economic development in Québec!” said Michel Patry, Director of HEC Montréal. The Québec Cabinet has approved the proposal to build a new HEC building in downtown Montréal. HEC Montréal will now be able to go onto the next step and develop a business case.
The new building must be built in the business district, on a piece of land adjacent to Saint Patrick’s Basilica, between Beaver Hall Hill and Saint-Alexandre Street.
“Training a highly skilled workforce will really help local businesses drive productivity and competitiveness. Having the new HEC Montréal outpost in Montréal’s business district, where there is a high concentration of professionals in management, will further enhance the talent pool and improve the region’s economic attractiveness to businesses,” said Hubert Bolduc, President and CEO of Montréal International.
This location will allow HEC Montréal to strengthen ties with its partners, alumni, the business community and some 300,000 professionals and executives working downtown.
HEC Montréal’s presence downtown will also foster research opportunities. The school plans on expanding transfer of its knowledge to businesses and organizations, in addition to promoting co-creation between businesses and academia.
