International media: Showing off Montréal’s creative side!

On March 22, Montréal International hosted a foreign delegation of 10 high-tech journalists visiting four Canadian cities on a tour organized by Global Affairs Canada. Our guests followed a well-planned itinerary and got a true taste of Greater Montréal’s thriving video game and special effects industries while exploring the emerging reality of artificial intelligence.

Coming from the U.S., U.K., Japan, Germany, Sweden and France, the media representatives were carefully selected by a panel of experts. Some of them work for big outlets such as Forbes, Business North Carolina, Games Markt and Reset Media, while others are world-renowned freelance journalists. So our team made sure they would be blown away.

First thing on the agenda: a broad overview of Greater Montréal’s competitive environment and the two sectors in the spotlight. Guillaume Provost, founder of Compulsion Games, also joined the group and sparked the journalists’ interest by sharing his experience and deep knowledge of the video game industry. Armed with pencils, notepads and cameras, our guests then embarked on a series of highly instructive visits at Ubisoft, Framestore, Autodesk, Maluuba (Microsoft), Vrvana and GamePlay Space, where they had the chance to find out more about each company, and its team and products.

Throughout the day, the journalists asked questions about topics such as company history, financing, investment options, recruiting and workforce training. Impressed with Greater Montréal’s creativity and remarkable ability to innovate, our guests set off again later in the afternoon with a smile on their faces and many great stories to tell.
