Altagram, a global multilingual game localization and audio production agency based in Berlin, Germany, announces the opening of an office in Montréal to spearhead an expansion into the North American market. The privately-owned company, which also has an office in Seoul, South Korea, plans to leverage its presence in Montréal to reinforce its localization quality assurance (LQA) service offering and consolidate its strengths in text localization and multilingual voice-over production on American soil.
“With our offices in Europe and Asia, expanding to North America is the next logical step in order to establish a global company presence and to be closer to our clients and external team,” said Marie Amigues, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Altagram. “Together with Christian Norton, newly appointed CEO of Altagram Canada, we intend to build a company made of remarkably talented, multicultural people who are passionate about the industry. Our aim is to deliver high-quality services while providing a positive company atmosphere.”
Norton, a veteran QA manager originally from Montréal who formerly worked for Ubisoft and Gameloft, cited Montréal’s growing reputation as a strategic centre of excellence for video game and localization services as major factors in Altagram’s decision to set up a permanent presence in the city.
“It’s easy to recruit talent here from various cultures who are both native speakers and passionate about gaming. This means we can offer the best translation and localization QA services for any type of game in a wide variety of languages. We’re very excited about the opening of Altagram’s studio in the heart of Montréal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal.“
Ms. Amigues, who lived in Canada for four years, noted that she has often travelled to Montréal. “This city holds a special place in my heart. Given its thriving localization culture, as well as the help I received from Montréal International, Montréal became the clear choice for the location of our next office.”
Altagram, which will soon celebrate its fifth birthday, is constantly recruiting new talent for all three of its offices and expects to hire up to 60 specialists at its Montréal office over the next three years. “We are looking forward to growing an outstanding team on the North American continent and providing personalized and effective solutions for our clients’ needs,” said Mr. Norton. “We are grateful to be able to work with top video game developers and publishers who together represent 60% of the growth seen in our industry in 2017.”
