Foreign Students

In 2005, nearly 15,000 foreign students from over 150 countries were in attendance at the various institutions of higher learning in Metro Montréal. The numbers speak for themselves and attest to the excellent reputation that our universities and educational institutions enjoy around the world. Tuition fees that are among the lowest in all of North America also play a significant role in attracting foreign students to the region.

A number of students from 50 countries and national agencies with which Québec has signed an agreement may benefit from an exemption from the additional tuition fees normally required of foreign students.

The ministère de l'Éducation du Québec (Québec Education Department) has a number of measures in place for foreign students to help them prepare for and complete their studies.
