Temporary worker status

The term "temporary worker" refers to a foreign worker holding a work permit issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

The document authorizes the holder to work only for the company mentioned. To change employers, the foreign workermust apply for a new work permit.

This permit is valid for the duration of employment, usually one to three years. It is renewable under certain conditions, but for a total period not exceeding five or six years.
