Montréal, June 16, 2026 – Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), a global SecurityTech company, today announced its decision to establish a new Global Centre of Excellence for AI in Montréal. The project represents an $80 million investment and will lead to the creation of 60 specialized AI jobs over the next five years.

Located at Mila, the new hub will focus on designing and developing AI solutions for security-critical environments. Initial work will include fraud prevention and enhanced security, as well as conversational AI solutions to support selected banking and financial services.

By choosing Montréal, G+D aims to leverage the local ecosystem’s globally recognized talent pool, world-class academic research, and strong culture of innovation.

“Together with Mila, we aim to build AI solutions that people can trust, because security, trust, and human benefit are not add-ons for us. They are the foundation of meaningful and sustainable innovation,” said Gabriel von Mitschke-Collande, Chief Digital Officer and Member of the Group Management Board at G+D.

Founded in 1852 as a banknote printer, G+D has evolved into a global leader in security technologies. Established in Canada since 1962, the company works with the Bank of Canada, major financial institutions, federal and provincial authorities, as well as players in the telecommunications and transportation sectors to deliver secure technology solutions tailored to today’s needs.

G+D is headquartered in Munich, Germany.
