Auticonsult sees accelerated growth in Montréal

An employment catalyst for autistic professionals

October 20, 2020

Auticonsult, a global IT consulting firm that employs consultants on the autism spectrum, announces the expansion of its Montréal team. The firm plans to have 100 employees in the metropolitan region by 2023. The group’s Canadian activities are experiencing strong growth and the demand for highly qualified consultants is increasing steadily.

Auticonsult is the first company in Québec to specifically employ IT consultants with autism or Asperger syndrome. The goal is to put their skills to work for the benefit of the clients’ projects. When they are well integrated into a team, autistic professionals provide neurodiversity that paves the way to new perspectives. Auticonsult’s professionals specialize in a variety of areas such as software development, data analysis, quality assurance and testing as well as cybersecurity.

“By leveraging the skills of our autistic consultants, everyone wins. We take great care in placing our employees on projects they are well suited to,” explains Pierre Bissonnette, General Manager, Auticonsult Canada. “We provide customized support to clients and our consultants for long-term contracts. This allows us to maximize our technological, economic and social impact.”

More than 400,000 people are on the autism spectrum in Canada. Of these, over 80,000 are highly qualified and are perfectly capable of holding a job. However, less than 15% of them are employed.

“We like to say that Greater Montréal is a fertile region for innovation. Auticonsult is proof that innovation can take many forms,” explains Stéphane Paquet, CEO of Montréal International.  “The labour scarcity is particularly acute in technology industries. With its unique business model, Auticonsult is meeting this need by providing a previously overlooked talent pool—and this has been an across-the-board success!”

“Innovation is essential to building a strong and sustainable economy, and it is everyone’s business,” said Hubert Bolduc, President of Investissement Québec International. In collaboration with Montréal International, our teams are supporting Auticonsult as it grows in Montréal. We are proud that they have chosen to make a long-term investment in Québec and, with the contribution of Investissement Québec-CRIQ experts, we will remain available to advise them throughout their innovation journey”.
