Biopharmaceutical: Jubilant expands its Montréal operations
A $94.5 million investment strengthening Greater Montréal’s life sciences ecosystem.
A major new investment is set to strengthen Greater Montréal’s biopharmaceutical capabilities. Jubilant Radiopharma will modernize and expand its Kirkland facilities to double its radiopharmaceutical production capacity. Valued at $94.5 million, the project is receiving $23.8 million in financial support from the Government of Canada.
More specifically, the company will modernize its production lines, add new manufacturing space, and upgrade its laboratories as well as its storage and shipping areas. The project will also create and maintain 225 skilled jobs in the region, in addition to supporting 35 work-integrated learning placements.
The expansion will further strengthen Montréal’s strategic role in Jubilant Radiopharma’s global operations, with the Kirkland site becoming the company’s global centre of excellence for the manufacturing and R&D of radiopharmaceutical products. Based in India, the company also operates facilities in the United States to serve clients in 85 countries.
The project comes amidst growing demand for the company’s diagnostic and therapeutic solutions, which contribute to precision medicine in cardiology, oncology and nuclear medicine.
“This investment recognizes Jubilant Radiopharma’s innovation capabilities in Nuclear Medicine and the important role our sector plays in advancing both diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. This project will build our deep capability here in Québec, create and secure high-value jobs, and ensure a reliable supply of essential radiopharmaceutical products in Canada and around the world,” said Harsher Singh, CEO of Jubilant Radiopharma.
