Montréal International welcomes investment by Molson Coors Canada in Greater Montréal

November 28, 2017

Molson Coors Canada today announced plans to acquire a new site in Greater Montréal, more specifically in Longueuil in the borough of Saint-Hubert.

Montréal International welcomes the investment, which is part of a vast project to modernize and consolidate the company’s brewing operations in the Greater Montréal area.

This is excellent news for Greater Montréal and the city’s brewing industry, as hundreds of jobs will stay in the area. The investment will also yield significant benefits both locally and internationally,” said Hubert Bolduc, President and CEO of Montréal International. “Molson is an iconic Greater Montréal company, and its decision to stay and initiate a major investment project in the area will further enhance the city’s international profile.

Our intention is to build a modern high-performance brewery that will enable us to stay competitive in an evolving market by relying on the world-class talent and brewing expertise found here in Quebec,” said Frederic Landtmeters, President and CEO of Molson Coors Canada. As we look to the future, our roots will always be in Montréal, and we would like to thank our partners, particularly Montréal International, for understanding the challenges we were facing and supporting our investment project.”

With Molson Coors’ operations moving to Longueuil, the new investment also opens the way for an urban development project on the 231-year-old historic site on Notre-Dame Street East. Discussions with the City of Montréal are underway to renew the area and ensure its harmonious development.
