MI awards the title of President Emeritus to L. Jacques Ménard for his exceptional contribution

Jean Laurin succeeds him and becomes President of the Board of Directors

Montréal International awards the honorary title of President Emeritus to Mr. L. Jacques Ménard, who is stepping down as President of the Board of Directors after five years of exceptional support for Greater Montréal’s economic development and international influence. The organization also announces that Mr. Jean Laurin, currently Vice-President of the Board, will succeed him in this position. Jean Laurin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Devencore Ltd., a leading Canadian commercial real estate consulting and brokerage firm.

“It is an honour to take up the torch of Mr. Ménard, a man who has made an extraordinary contribution to Greater Montréal’s economic vitality for many years. Having had the opportunity to work with him on the Board of Directors of Montréal International, I saw first-hand the impact he had on the entire Montréal business community. It is therefore with a view to ensuring the sustainability of his ambition for the region that I wish to continue my commitment to Montréal International,” said Mr. Laurin.

The entire Montréal International team would like to acknowledge Mr. Ménard’s exceptional contribution over these past years. During his presidency, from 2014 to 2019, the organization enjoyed unprecedented growth, with a significant increase in its mandates, budgets and staff.

Thanks to his involvement with Montréal International, the organization has achieved ambitious objectives and fully played its leadership role in attracting foreign investment, talent and international organizations,” stated Hubert Bolduc, President and Chief Executive Officer of Montréal International and President of Investissement Québec International. “The Board of Directors not only salutes his dedication to strengthening the economic attractiveness of the region on a daily basis, but also wishes to pay him tribute by appointing him President Emeritus of the organization.”

Other appointments to be noted 

The Board of Directors also welcomed two new members :

  • Anne-Marie Hubert, Managing Partner at EY, is appointed Treasurer of the Board of Directors.
  • Claude Gagnon, President of Operations at BMO Financial Group, is appointed to the Board of Directors.
