In 2025, Montréal International was everywhere
From Seoul to San Francisco, from Paris to Casablanca to Dubai… In 2025, our teams travelled to some 50 cities across four continents to showcase Greater Montréal’s key economic sectors.
We took part in the Paris Air Show, the Dubai Airshow, BIO Asia-Taiwan, and the CleanTech Forum in Spain and many other major global events. In the U.S., we hosted AI-focused gatherings in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York.
We also met with potential investors in Singapore, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and Switzerland during Global Affairs Canada’s Investment and Innovation tours.
Here at home, our teams were just as active: nearly 500 visits to foreign subsidiaries and daily support for more than 50 international organizations.
Everywhere, on every issue
The flow of foreign investment is shaped by global challenges. That’s why we engaged in key discussions on tariffs, immigration policies, defense, and the energy transition. Tariffs and the ensuing global uncertainty were front and centre. To better support international subsidiaries, we conducted surveys and organized multiple roundtables.
Immigration policies were a big topic in Québec. Given their impact on Greater Montréal’s economy and competitiveness, we presented our recommendations to Québec’s National Assembly. As our CEO Stéphane Paquet emphasized, predictability is essential to ensure Montréal remains on the same playing field as other cities in Québec and Canada.
Everywhere online
Montréal was also very visible online, thanks to dozens of targeted campaigns promoting its top industries such as aerospace, AI, and clean technologies. Our most ambitious initiative? Montréal Loves Research, launched with the City of Montréal and local universities to attract U.S. researchers and scientists. As a result, nearly 200 qualified candidates expressed their interest in pursuing their career Montréal. Not bad!
Turning actions into results
This active presence paved the way to attract major projects and new international players to Greater Montréal. Here’s a snapshot of 2025’s key announcements:
Artificial intelligence
Alexa Translations, Ampliwork, Cohere, SafelyYou, and Terzo all chose Montréal to advance solutions ranging from AI agents to financial optimization platforms, from senior safety to legal/financial document translation.
Health
Avitia partnered with Mila to expand access to precision oncology with cancer screening technology. A few months later, Merck launched the Merck Digital Sciences Studio to support seven biopharma startups.
Energy & transportation
Léo, a new car-sharing service, boosted sustainable mobility in Montréal. In the Fall, GE Vernova invested $6M in its La Prairie plant to increase high-voltage breaker production, while Hitachi Energy injected $270M to expand its capacity to produce transformers in Varennes.
Video games
Upcoming titles for The Wheel of Time and Dungeons & Dragons will be developed in Montréal by iwot and Hasbro.
International organizations
UN-Habitat and the World Benchmarking Alliance, two key players in urban and sustainability issues, launched their activities in Montréal.
Thank you to our partners!
None of this would have been possible without the support of our partners: the City of Montréal, the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, the governments of Québec and Canada, and over 100 private partners.
This collaboration came to life through numerous events and networking opportunities. Our Networking Cafés, launched in 2025, quickly became must-attend gatherings to connect and share ideas.
With this collective strength, we’ll be back in 2026 to put Greater Montréal in the global spotlight.
