Silverstein Properties, one of New York City’s leading real estate development and management companies, is planning a new research and development centre in the heart of downtown Montréal to transform its tenant management app into a full-fledged tenant services platform, serving tens of thousands of customers from coast to coast in the United States. “Inspire Labs” is expected to create 30 jobs over the next three years.

The Montréal team will be tasked with developing two cutting-edge products for the Silverstein organization whose footprint includes some of Manhattan’s most iconic buildings, including several World Trade Centre towers. “Inspire” was designed to provide the company’s 50,000 tenants with a smart, holistic and personalized tenant experience solution, which is perfectly aligned with the company’s mission to enhance communities and neighbourhoods. The “RTSP” project, a stealth mode start-up, is geared towards enterprises that seek to provide space that gives their employees flexibility while optimizing their commercial office space.

“Our goal is to Inspire entrepreneurs to become the best version of themselves,” said Tal Kerret, President of Silverstein Properties. “Inspire and our Silvertech portfolio companies are a community of successful and inspiring CEO’s helping each other continuously to make an impact. We are proud to bring Inspire Labs to Montreal, a terrific location for us to hire the best and brightest minds to build a better, smarter and more efficient ecosystem.”

“Montréal has everything we need to take Inspire Labs to the next level,” said Noam Weisman, Silverstein Properties’ Vice President of Customer Products. “The city has a deep, skilled, multi-lingual talent pool that includes IT professionals and recent university graduates, a strategic geographical position and rich AI and IT ecosystems. Our immediate goal is to recruit top-level talent to lead this initiative and develop these two important products. Because our mission is to continuously find and develop new products and services, that number is likely to grow.”

The announcement was made during an official visit from Montréal Mayor Valérie Plante to 3 World Trade Center where M. Tal Kerret, the company’s President, discussed Silverstein Properties plans for the Montreal research and development center.

“With Silverstein Properties’ investment, a piece of Montréal’s know-how will be at the centre of some of the most iconic buildings in the world, including all four of the World Trade Center’s modern towers. We ought to be very proud of that!” said Stéphane Paquet, President and CEO of Montréal International. “Greater Montréal is home to more than 84,000 workers with software development skills and boasts the highest number of graduates in tech in Canada along with some 18,000 students currently enrolled in IT programs. The future of tech is here, and we are happy to support investments such as Silverstein’s every step of the way.”

Founded in 1957 by Chairman Larry Silverstein, Silverstein Properties has developed, owned and managed more than 40 million square feet of office, residential, hotel, retail and mixed-use properties.

The location of the new Montréal centre is expected to be disclosed in the coming weeks.
