Le 16 février, Montréal International a réuni décideurs publics, entreprises locales et acteurs internationaux autour d’un objectif clair : faire émerger des collaborations menant rapidement à des investissements et à des projets pilotes en innovation verte.

The event featured key political leaders, including Chantal Rouleau, Québec Minister responsible for Social Solidarity and Community Action and Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montréal region; Éric St-Pierre, Member of Parliament for Honoré-Mercier; Chantal Gagnon, Mayor of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and member of Montréal’s Executive Committee responsible for economic development and the green economy; and Anne St‑Laurent, Mayor of Montréal‑Est.

A sector ripe for investment

Montréal’s East End offers unique opportunities for businesses and international investors, including:

  • Vacant, development-ready land
  • A robust logistics infrastructure supporting strategic supply chains
  • A long-term, coherent economic development vision

Together, these assets create a clear window of opportunity: now is the time to invest, as clean technology value chains are still taking shape and the territory is well positioned to host large-scale, structuring projects.

Business-focused discussions

Breakout discussions focused on five key sectors: solar energy, critical minerals, alternative fuels, bioenergy and the circular economy. A strong consensus emerged: tighter connections between innovation, established companies and capital are essential to accelerate the journey from research to market.

The day concluded with a panel moderated by Jean‑Denis Charest, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Montréal’s East End, featuring Mathieu Bouchard (Deep Sky), Pascal Lanctôt (BDC Capital – Climate Tech), Alain Longpré (Fondaction), Galith Levy (Climate Solutions Prize) and Michael Doré (Idéalist Capital).

“Today’s discussions really underscored how essential a well‑connected ecosystem is,” said Stéphane Paquet, President and CEO of Montréal International. “They also helped clarify our priorities: providing financial support to high‑value initiatives, particularly for established companies, and leveraging the role of large corporations to accelerate the adoption of new innovations.”
